Sephs recent Plaques
SephGotTheWaves is shifting hip-hop’s zeitgeist with his guitar. Born Joseph Boyden and raised in the small town of Woodville, New Zealand, Seph picked up guitar as a 14-year-old attending high school music classes. Drawing inspiration from rock icons like Slash and Nile Rodgers, he spent years honing his skills and developing a distinctive style of his own.
In 2019, Seph’s collaborations with southern rappers like Quando Rondo and NoCap established him as a loop-maker with his finger on the pulse of hip-hop’s melodic new wave. Since then, he’s worked with many of rap’s brightest stars (Pop Smoke, Polo G, Youngboy Never Broke Again, Rod Wave, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie), scored placements on a dozen gold and platinum records, and become the first person from his hometown to grace the US Billboard Hot 100.
Though he still lives in Woodville with his wife and young daughter, Seph’s singular vision has changed the sound of American rap music, and he’s only getting warmed up.
